Hi all,

In recent years I found that I need reading glasses to read maps, my phone and the settings on my marine radio screen - I can't imagine why, but there you are...

I discovered what I think is a good solution for kayakers with similar needs: cheap off the peg safety glasses with mostly clear "glass" and smaller lenses which make them bifocal. No "prescription" needed...

Several club members expressed interest in these recently and I promised to share the relevant info. I use two pairs: one clear and one "smokey lens "i.e. a sunglass version.

I gather that they are primarily intended for cyclists and motor cyclists but they serve my kayaking (and hillwalking) needs very well. And because they are cheap, there are no tears shed if they fall overboard...
