vhf.ie are running training courses as detailed below. The short range certificate is required to legally use a marine VHF radio. Please see www.vhf.ie for more information or call them on 065 7074565.

Thanks Julian for the info.

I have signed up for the short range certificate course on 21/22 October. Now, I need to decide on my call sign - Sunshine or Banana :)

Geraldine.

I'm looking to do my radio training but VHF.ie aren't running a local course until April (and on a weekend I'm already busy).

I found this course instead which is running in Dun Laoghaire in January on Friday 20th evening & all day Saturday 21st.

Has anyone attended one of their courses before?

Thanks,
Lyndon

Geraldine, your callsign will be given to you when you get a licence. It'll be a combination of letters and numbers. What you get to choose is your Vessel Name. When you transmit you must identify yourself either by vessel name or by your given callsign.
